Mauritius struggles to control the oil spill pollution

The Mauritius is facing a serious environmental emergency since an vessel has grounded in the eastern shore of the island in late of Jul. The grounded vessel  carryied  4,000 tonnes of fuel oil and More than 1,000 tons of oil has spilled into the coastal waters of Mauritius. 



On Aug.07, Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth declared a state of emergency and appealed for help to control the oil spill which will be a big danger to the local people relying on tourism. Although 400m oil containment booms have deployed, it seems it can not succeed to control the oil spill because of rough sea situation.
